Every year, a large number of tourists and local people turn up at the ghats of Tattapani on Makar Sankranti for a holy dip. The situation was quite different today as only a few devotees took the holy dip.

In the wake of the Covid surge, the Karsog administration had appealed to people yesterday to avoid mass gathering at the ghats It had deployed a flying squad in the area to keep a close watch on visitors and ensure strict adherence to the Covid guidelines.

Tattapani has emerged as a major tourist destination in the past few years due to the efforts of the state government. The government had introduced water sports activities at Tattapani but due to the Covid surge the celebrations were lukewarm this time and as a result the business of hoteliers and local traders was affected.
