Make everyone aware of Central Govt schemes: Suresh Kashyap

Suresh Kashyap, Member of Parliament from Shimla, chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee today and emphasised the importance of raising awareness about various central government schemes among the public. During the meeting, Kashyap pointed out that many people remain unaware of these schemes, resulting in them missing out on potential benefits. He urged officials from relevant departments to actively educate the public and ensure the proper implementation of these schemes at the ground level.

Kashyap highlighted the numerous initiatives launched by the government for the state’s development and directed that work on these schemes be completed according to the set targets, as the current financial year nears its end. He noted that some schemes had not yet started despite budget approvals and urged the departments to accelerate the process, ensuring the maximum number of people benefit from central government-funded programmes.

The MP further instructed officials to provide accurate data at future meetings to present a clear picture of the progress. He stressed that reports presented at the meetings often fail to reflect the actual situation on the ground. He also underlined the need for maintaining high-quality standards in development work to ensure the proper utilisation of funds.

Chopal MLA Balbir Verma, who was present at the meeting, raised concerns about several completed projects under the Jal Shakti Department in his constituency that were not benefiting the local people. He called for an investigation into why these projects were not being utilised by residents.

DC Anupam Kashyap assured that in the next meeting, all departments would include photographs of completed works in their reports to provide a clearer understanding of the ground realities.

It was reported that the Agriculture Department has supported 1,200 farmers under the National Agricultural Development Scheme for the financial year 2024-25. Under the National Food Security Mission, 721 beneficiaries have been assisted, 72 under the National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture and 7,700 beneficiaries under the Soil Health Card Scheme.
