A 38-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being attacked with a sharp object near Parala Mandi in Theog subdivision, Shimla district, the police said on Monday. The victim, identified as Sagar, a resident of Chopal, was asleep inside his pick-up vehicle during the early hours when unidentified assailants knocked on his window. On opening it, he was allegedly asked for money. When he resisted, the attackers assaulted him with a sharp weapon and fled. The police rushed to the spot after receiving the information and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital, Theog, from where he was referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla. Doctors confirmed he sustained head and facial injuries.
