On receiving information, Paonta Sahib SDM Gunjeet Singh Cheema rushed to the spot with his team to supervise the rescue operation. Divers were immediately deployed and along with local residents, they continued an intensive search in the rivulet throughout the day.

Authorities confirmed that Singh’s attempt to save the cow turned fatal as the surging waters swept him away. The administration has urged the public not to put their own lives at risk during such dangerous situations and instead alert disaster management teams for immediate assistance. Expressing grief over the incident, the SDM conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of full support during this difficult time.
