Havildar Sukhdev Singh, a brave soldier from Sarkaghat in Mandi district, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving on the frontlines in Leh as part of the Indian Army's Artillery Regiment.

The last rites of the martyr were performed with full state honours at his native Jamsai village today. The funeral was attended by the local administration officials, including Tehsildar Munish Kumar, and soldiers from his unit, who paid their final respects to him. A large number of people gathered to offer condolences to his family.

Havildar Sukhdev Singh leaves behind his wife Anita Devi and a son.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed grief over the death of Havildar Sukhdev Singh who attained martyrdom in a battlefield. The Chief Minister, in his condolence message, said that the nation would always be indebted to him for his valour. Havildar Sukhdev Singh’s contribution and his supreme sacrifice will always be remembered, he said.

The Chief Minister prayed to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the family members to bear this irreparable loss.

Sukhdev Singh had been in service for 24 years and was stationed in the region to protect the nation's borders. His martyrdom has deeply saddened the Sarkaghat region, where he was a beloved and respected figure.
