Dumesh was the only cadet from the Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate to participate in this rigorous training programme, which included advanced skills in rock craft, snow craft, ice techniques, glacier movement and high-altitude cooking. She also distinguished herself by completing the mandatory 13-km speed trek carrying 15 kg load well within the stipulated time, displaying exceptional fitness and mental resilience.

On her return, Vallabh Government College, Mandi, organised a high tea in her honour. Principal Sanjeev Kumar felicitated Dumesh with a memento and congratulated NCC officers for their consistent efforts in grooming young achievers. He said that NCC cadets from the college had earned recognition at the national and international levels. They had participated in Youth Exchange Programme camps in Russia, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Vietnam and Bhutan and secured positions in the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army after receiving the President’s Commission.

Flying Officer Chaman Lal Kranti Singh heads the NCC Air Wing of the college while Caretaker Officers Kavita and Balbir Singh supervise the NCC Army Wing. Flying Officer Chaman said that the Advanced Mountaineering Course was a multidimensional programme designed to build endurance, leadership and disaster management capabilities among cadets while strengthening their interest in the armed forces and adventure activities. Dumesh hails from the Gohar region of Mandi district and a BA (3rd year) student.
