Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsIn a high-level meeting held yesterday under the chairmanship of Mandi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Apoorv Devgan, key directives were issued to revenue officials to ensure swift and transparent relief distribution to disaster-affected individuals across the district. The meeting focused on reviewing progress in revenue-related matters and public service delivery.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that providing immediate aid to disaster victims remains the administration's highest priority. He instructed all revenue officials to approve all pending relief cases online without delay, enabling affected families to receive timely financial assistance. “There should be no delay in delivering relief. Any laxity in this regard will not be tolerated,” the DC said firmly.
The DC also addressed long-pending audit recovery issues and instructed that these be resolved in a time-bound manner. He set a one-week deadline for digitising and uploading legacy land deed records dating from 1961 to 1990 as part of the Legacy Deed Update initiative.
The DC informed the officers that pending Jamabandis (land ownership records) from 2022-23 must be finalised, and all land ownership records should be linked with Aadhaar numbers and mobile numbers by 30 September. This aims to increase transparency and accuracy in land records and improve service delivery.
The DC directed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to prioritise and expedite the resolution of pending revenue cases and ensure that new cases are addressed promptly. He reiterated the need to streamline the department's functioning to better serve the public, especially during times of disaster or emergency. "Strengthening the efficiency of the revenue department is a key administrative goal. Citizens deserve timely, efficient and transparent services, especially during times of crisis," he stated.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate Dr Madan Kumar, District Revenue Officer Harish Sharma, all SDMs, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars, who joined the meeting virtually. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to delivering fast, effective and transparent governance, especially to those impacted by natural calamities.
The directives from the Deputy Commissioner are expected to accelerate relief efforts and enhance efficiency within the revenue system of Mandi district.
