Mihir Kumar Sinha, a student of IIT Mandi and a native of Patna, Bihar, tragically lost his life on October 5 after falling from a hill near Aliyas Lake in Lahaul and Spiti district. Mihir was part of a group of 10 students who had embarked on a trekking expedition to the lake.

According to Lahaul and Spiti SP Mayank Chaudhary, the group reported the incident after reaching Sissu, leading to a rescue operation led by Keylong DSP, supported by the DDMA, ITBP Karga, and the Mountaineering Institute Sub-Center Jispa.

The rescue team navigated the difficult terrain to retrieve the body. No suspicious circumstances were found, and the victim’s body has been sent to the Regional Hospital in Keylong. His family was informed of the mishap on Monday.
