During a visit to Lower Bazaar, the team found five unauthorised street vendors and confiscated their goods.

Tehbazari inspector Jyoti Prakash said the goods of these street vendors will be returned after they paid the fine. Most unauthorised street vendors operating in the town mostly hail from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh and New Delhi, he added.

The Shimla MC had earlier decided that unauthorised vendors as well as encroachment by shopkeepers will not be allowed in Lower Bazaar. The MC has recently identified vending and non-vending zones across the town. The civic body will allot the vending zones to licensed street vendors who have been registered with the corporation.
