The village pradhan informed the police about the crime.
The deceased was identified as 31-year-old Sangeeta Devi of Siwan in Bihar. Her younger sister told the police that Sangeeta had been at loggerheads with her husband Chunnu Sahani, a factory worker, for the past one week. As they were neighbours, she overheard Sangeeta and Chunnu indulging in an altercation over some issue around 9 pm yesterday. She, however, went to sleep along with her family and did not interfere in Sangeeta’s dispute.
At 7.30 am today, she found the door of Sangeeta’s house bolted from outside, while her four-year-old daughter was crying. She opened the door and found Sangeeta lying motionless with a leg injury and blood and froth on her mouth.
Chunnu was not there and his cellphone was also switched off when they tried to contact him. She suspected Chunnu had murdered Sangeeta and on the basis of her complaint an FIR was lodged at Manpura police station today. Vinod Kumar, SP, Baddi, inspected Sangeeta’s residence. He said a post-mortem would be conducted to ascertain the cause of victim’s death. As per preliminary probe, Sangeeta was strangulated. She got married to Chunnu in 2012. Her husband was a habitual drunkard who often came home in an inebriated state. — TNS
