Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh today said that he was ready to help the Sanjauli Masjid Committee financially to raze the illegal portions of the mosque if it approaches him. “They have not approached me, but I will help them financially or through labour if they come to me. The Congress always helps the needy,” he added.

The Sanjauli Masjid Committee started razing the illegal construction following the orders of the Shimla Municipal Commissioner’s court to dismantle three floors of the mosque within two months. The committee, however, cited the lack of funds to complete the demolition within the time frame.

Meanwhile, the minister hailed the Muslim community for taking the initiative to remove the illegal construction in the mosque.
