Minister questions transfer of case to CBI, Jai Ram hails High Court order

Revenue Minister Jagat Negi today said that investigation by various agencies into Vimal Negi’s death case was being done in a fair and transparent manner. “I am yet to read the order to understand on what basis the case has been given to the CBI. As several inquiries were being held simultaneously into the case, the High Court might have found some contradictions in the inquiries,” he added.

The minister, however, aired his reservation about the CBI investigating the case. “The CBI had investigated the Gudiya murder case as well, and we know what happened. The Supreme Court had called the CBI a caged parrot,” he added.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur welcomed the decision, saying that he had been seeking a CBI inquiry from Day 1. He asked Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu when the deceased’s family was not satisfied with the inquiry, why was he against handing over the case to the CBI.

He alleged that Negi’s death should not only be seen as a suicide case but from the angle of murder. “There are allegations and suspicion of corruption and fingers are being pointed at top officials and even politicians. This is a case of organised corruption,” he said. The family would now get justice and the wrongdoers would land behind bar, he added.
