The body of a 21-year-old girl, who was missing from Khakhanal in Manali since August 7, was found on the banks of the Beas near Hotel Spain Resort at 15 Miles on the Manali-Kullu Highway in Kullu district last evening. The police had arrested two suspects, identified as Nishant, alias Nishu (20), a resident of Badagran in Kullu, and Archit (26), a resident of Pandoh in Mandi.

According to Kullu SP Karthikeyan Gokulachandran, the girl had left her house on August 7 to meet friends but went missing. It later came to light that she had stayed at a hotel with the accused. Preliminary investigation suggests that the girl had fallen unconscious in the hotel room. The accused, considering her dead, drove her in a car and threw her into the Beas.

“The police traced the suspects through phone call records and arrested them,” the SP said. — TNS
