The body of a woman, who reported went missing recently from Udaipur in Lahaul and Spiti district, has been recovered in the Rupnagar district of Punjab today. However, her three-year-old daughter is missing.

According to official sources, a missing persons report was lodged at Udaipur police station on August 13 after a woman and her young daughter were untraceable. Following preliminary efforts to locate them, authorities received information late in the night yesterday about the recovery of the woman's body in Rupnagar district, Punjab. In response to the discovery, a case has been registered at Kiratpur police station in Rupnagar district to probe the circumstances surrounding her death and the disappearance of her daughter.

The District Police Lahaul and Spiti has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to expedite the probe and trace the missing child. The SIT will look into all angles of the case, including possible foul play, abduction, etc.

"Efforts are being intensified to trace the missing child. All necessary resources are being mobilised and coordination between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh police is being ensured," said Rashmi Sharma, DSP, Keylong.

The public has been urged to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
