Palampur MLA Ashish Butail on Tuesday voiced deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the town after a shocking attack on local advocates. Speaking to reporters, Butail said the assault by anti-social elements inside the local court had created an atmosphere of insecurity among residents.

He urged the police to treat the matter with utmost seriousness and ensure strict action so that such incidents are not repeated. “I have spoken to senior police officials, who assured me of appropriate action against the culprits. I also met the victims, including two local advocates and assured them of full protection,” Butail said. He added that he would take up the matter with the CM once he returns from his foreign visit.

Palampur DSP Lokinder Singh said a case had been registered and a police team dispatched to Chandigarh, where the main accused is admitted at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.
