Continuous rainfall has softened the soil and caused frequent land subsidence, making the pipeline vulnerable to repeated breakages. This has deepened the water crisis in the district headquarters. Officials of the Jal Shakti Department said repair work is being carried out on a war footing and the pipeline will be tested by Friday evening. Authorities are hopeful that water supply in Nahan will be restored to normal soon.
As an interim relief measure, around 35 lakh litres of water are being supplied to residents from alternative schemes. MLA Solanki directed officials and staff of the Jal Shakti Department to work towards a permanent solution without delay.
