A district-level event was organised in Chamba to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda on Friday. Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Amit Mehra presided over the event.

The event featured a mesmerising performance of Musada, singing in the form of devotional hymns dedicated to Lord Shiva, presented by the traditional folk singers from the tribal region of Bharmour.

Artistes also entertained the audience with the renowned Gaddi folk dance.

During the programme, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana were handed over the keys to their new homes. Additionally, a free health check-up camp organised by the Health Department provided medical examinations for 35 individuals.

The national-level event held in Jamui, Bihar, and attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was virtually telecast on the occasion.

The ADM also visited exhibitions set up by various departments, including agriculture, health, and rural development. He also inspected displays and sales centres showcasing products prepared by self-help groups from tribal areas.

SDM Priyanshu Khati, Assistant Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner PP Singh, District Ayurvedic Officer Surendra Suman, Deputy Director of Agriculture Dr Kuldeep Dhiman, District Language Officer Tukesh Kumar and several other departmental officials, employees and local residents were among those present at the event.
