Expressing his pride in the achievement, Chaudhary stated that the award recognises SJVN’s exceptional contribution to the nation’s energy sector through the successful execution and operation of India’s largest underground hydro power station in the challenging hilly terrains of Himachal Pradesh. He highlighted that the civil structures of NJHPS have withstood the test of time and continue to deliver optimal performance, ensuring reliable power generation.

NJHPS has further solidified its reputation by setting multiple records in power generation during the current fiscal year. The power station achieved its highest-ever quarterly energy generation, producing 3,450.980 million units in the second quarter of 2024-25. It also recorded its highest-ever single-day energy generation of 39.572 million units on August 13, 2024, along with its highest-ever monthly generation of 1,222.170 million units in July 2024.

Despite facing high silt levels in the Satluj, NJHPS maintained uninterrupted operations without a single shutdown, demonstrating unmatched efficiency and operational excellence. The recognition from CBIP further reinforces NJHPS’s role as a benchmark in hydro power generation and a key player in India’s sustainable energy future. —
