In his keynote address, Principal Dr Sachin Kumar highlighted the importance of space missions and apprised the students of the contributions of the eminent Indian scientists. He said Dr Vikram Sarabhai was known as the ‘father of Indian space programmes’. He said this year, India was commemorating its first National Space Day on August 23, celebrating the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s success anniversary.

Prof Kanchan said on August 23, the Vikram lander successfully touched down on the Moon’s surface, making India the fourth country to accomplish a lunar landing and the first to reach the Moon’s southern polar region. “This momentous occasion underscored India’s advancing capabilities in space exploration and cemented its status as a key player on the global space stage.”

An exhibition on Indian space missions was also organised. Teachers and students from different departments of the college visited the exhibition in which 18 students presented their models and posters. This year’s theme of the programme was “Touching lives, while touching Moon: India’s space saga”. The National Space Day was also celebrated in Arya Government College, Nurpur.
