National Youth Day was celebrated online at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dharamsala Cantt. Physical education teacher Chaman Singh and others talked about the life of Swami Vivekananda. This was followed by a video of group dance performance by schoolchildren. Ashtika of Class VI presented a solo dance performance on a Haryanavi song. Shamak, in his video message, spoke about the achievements of Swami Vivekananda. This was followed by a group song performance by the upper primary school choir. Scout Ishaan, through his rhythmic poem, highlighted the greatness of the saint. Principal Pushpa Sharma reflected on the purpose of choosing Swami Vivekananda’s birthday as National Youth Day and the meaning of his clarion call, ‘Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached’.

Vaccination camp for students

Vidyapeeth, an academy for medical and engineering aspirants in Shimla, organised a Covid vaccination camp on its premises. This camp was organised with the help of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and BMO, Mashobra. The camp was inaugurated by Shimla SP Monika Bhutungru. More than 100 students were vaccinated in this camp. The SP interacted with the students and answered their queries. She also inaugurated a smart classroom set up at the academy for conducting online classes.

HPU tells students to vacate hostels

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has asked students to vacate the hostel. Chief warden said the decision was taken in view of the orders of the state government and the university administration, following spurt in Covid-19 cases.
