Dr Pankaj Mittal, Head and Principal Scientist of KVK Sirmaur, said the earlier focus on chemical-based farming for higher yields has now resulted in soil degradation, health concerns and environmental challenges. He lauded the participation of women in the training and urged them to share their knowledge with farmers in their communities. He described the CRP initiative as a vital component of the mission, enabling selected individuals to serve as advisors and motivators for promoting natural farming practices at the grassroots level.

Dr Sahib Singh, Project Director of ATMA, Department of Agriculture, Sirmaur, highlighted the crucial role of CRPs in ensuring the mission’s success. He said that after this intensive training, the participants would be better equipped to encourage farmers to adopt natural farming methods with greater enthusiasm and commitment, thereby contributing to healthier communities.

The training included expert sessions on the fundamentals and practical aspects of natural farming. Participants also visited progressive farmer Ranjit Singh’s farm in Kashipur and the model natural farming farm at Bhangani. On the final day, marking Independence Day, participants carried out a plantation drive, planting saplings of various species to make the event memorable. Officials and staff of KVK Sirmaur were also present at the ceremony.
