In a spirited display of community service, the NCC units of Government Degree College (GDC), Dhaliara, and Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Dhaliara, jointly conducted a pond cleaning drive at Nehranpukkar under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. Guided by Lt Col Ravinder Singh, Officer Commanding, 6 HP (I) Coy NCC, Una, the initiative saw active participation from around 150 cadets and local villagers.

Lieutenant General JK Sharma (retd) was the chief guest, while Balram Sharma and GDC Principal Dr Anju R Chauhan were the guests of honour at the event. Chauhan told The Tribune that through under community service drive, the cadets had adopted an ancient village. The programme began with a welcome address by Dr Kapil Sood.

Lt Gen Sharma praised the cadets’ dedication to maintain cleanliness and community engagement, encouraging them to embody core values of the NCC, Unity and Discipline’. He also felicitated standout cadets and veterans for their contributions. Mukesh Sharma delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collective efforts. The event concluded with the distribution of refreshments. The drive not only enhanced public hygiene but also fostered environmental awareness and civic responsibility among the youth and the local community.
