NCC cadets trained in disaster management
Dharamsala, July 19
NCC cadets were trained in disaster management during a 10-day NCC camp organised at Nagrota Bagwan. Nearly 300 students from various educational institutions participated in the event.
The cadets were trained in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), search and rescue, bandaging techniques, rope knotting, rescue methods and firefighting. Himachal company NCC Commandant said the cadets were being trained in safety measures and disaster management skills. He said it was important for the cadets to have knowledge about disaster management so they could play an active role in helping people in their respective areas during an emergency. Kangra District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) training resource person Harjeet Bhullar encouraged the cadets to spread awareness and sensitise their family and neighbours about the importance of disaster-risk reduction and preparedness to help build more resilient communities.
During the workshop, trained resource persons from Dharamsala DDMA, Kangra Emergency and Disaster Management Resource Centre and Nagarota Bagwan Fire Station also trained the cadets.
