While extending the interim protection granted to Meena, the court has also given time to the CBI for filing response to the reply filed by the state government on or before October 14.

The matter was today listed before Justice Virender Singh. After hearing the matter for some time, the court deferred the hearing for October 14.

The court in its earlier order had granted the interim relief to Meena by restraining the prosecution agency to take any coercive action against Meena.

The body of Vimal Negi, who was the Chief Engineer of HPPCL and was missing since March 10, was found in Gobindsagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18. After Negi went missing, his wife wrote a letter to the Chief Minister alleging therein that higher officials of the HPPCL were harassing her husband. Acting on the complaint of Negi’s wife, an FIR was lodged at New Shimla Police Station in this regard.

Negi’s wife had alleged that the accused used to pressure her husband to do wrong things. To avoid arrest, MD Harikesh Meena had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the High Court.
