The body of a Nepalese woman was found in a locked room at Holag village in the Ramshehar area of Nalagarh subdivision yesterday.
Nalagarh DSP Bhisham Thakur said a Nepalese couple had hired the room from a villager, Jagat Ram, on July 6 on a monthly rental of Rs 1,000.
Though the landlord sought their identification details, the couple — Bahadur and Ganga — said they would receive their identity documents via post in a few days. Both worked as labourers in the nearby area of Holag village.
On July 10, the landlord was informed by another tenant, Gaurav, that a body was lying on a bed in the room, which was had been locked from outside.
The body wrapped in a blanket was emitting a foul smell. The deceased was identified as Ganga and the room was locked since July 8, as per Gaurav. The village pradhan called the police. A case of murder has been registered and a probe was underway.
