Nestle India’s sanitation programme benefits 6,700 students in Una dist

Himmat Singh said that over about five years, 63 government schools in Una district had been covered under the Sanitation Programme. Under the programme, the company had set up separate toilets for girls and boys, benefiting over 6,700 students. Besides, he added, water tanks and piped supply systems had been created in 56 schools to provide students access to clean drinking water on the campuses.
The Nestle Director said that six schools in Una district had benefited under the ‘Healthy Kids Jigyaasa’ programme, which promotes science education and love for reading in rural schools. The programme involved setting up of science laboratories and libraries to encourage experiential learning and literacy.
He said the goal of the programme was to foster curiosity and help children understand complex concepts through hands-on activities and reading. He added that the process of selecting a beneficiary school was simple and involved an application from the head of the institution.
