The new Shimla Municipal Commissioner, Ashish Kohli, says pushing the city further up on the cleanliness index and maximising digitalisation of services were among his top priorities. “We will work to ensure that people don’t have to visit MC offices and can get their work done while sitting at home,” he said, after assuming office today.

Kohli said he would rope in institutions such as SJVN and banks for assistance. “We will explore if they can take up some responsibilities under their CSR schemes,” he said. He said he would coordinate with the district administration for Smart City projects. — TNS
