The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has taken cognizance of a complaint filed against the setting up of a stone crusher at Mandwara village in Una district and directed the Member Secretary, Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (HPSPCB), to investigate the allegations.

The NGT also asked the official concerned to conduct a spot inspection to verify whether the necessary clearances and permissions were taken or not. The complainant alleged that the respondents didn’t obtain the necessary permissions for setting up the crusher and had illegally cut trees while levelling the land.

The applicant had filed complaints with the HPSPCB and the Director, Department of Environment, Science Technology and Climate Change, which were pending consideration.

The NGT directed the Member Secretary, HPSPCB, to take action on the complaint within two months from the date of the receipt of the order.
