The District Magistrate today imposed total curfew in municipal committee area of Nalagarh and 22 gram panchayats lying on its precincts after three Covid positive cases of Jamaat members surfaced from the Nalagarh area last evening.
Additional District Magistrate, Vivek Chandel, said as per the orders issued by the district magistrate, total curfew has been clamped on the MC area of Nalagarh and gram panchayats of Radiyali, Goljamala, Navgram, Kripalpur, Kishenpura, Khera, Dabhota, Bagheri, Kundlu, Baruna. Jogo Jagatpur, Panjhera, Bairchha, Mastanpura, Baglaihad, Goljamala, Khiliyan, Gholowal, Kashmirpur, Haripur Sandholi and Karsoli.
With complete curfew having been imposed in Jharmajri area of Barotiwala, a significant chunk of this industrial belt has come under curfew making it the most vulnerable belt of Himachal.
Nobody, except those of officials on government duty, would be allowed to move in this area. The relaxation of curfew allowed earlier from 8 am 11 am to purchase essential items, has also been withdrawn. Even banks operating in this area have been directed to close functioning.
Pharmaceutical and other essential products manufacturing companies would, however, continue to function though their workers would be allowed to move strictly between 6am and 8 am and 6 pm and 8 pm. Movement of workers on foot has been discontinued.
Apart from the three positive cases of Covid, 43 Jamaat members, whose presence was detected at Nizamuddin in Delhi from March 16 to March 18, were roaming about in the area in small groups and visiting various mosques in Nalagarh, Jogo and Dabhota besides visiting areas like Panjhera, Sobanmajra, Devli, Baruna, Bhogpur, etc., in violation of the norms.
This local administration was trying to find all people who have been in contact with these people who were now in quarantine as this alone could help in preventing the check of Covid pandemic. Being a vast area, the contact detection was also a Herculean task and would take a long time for the administration to do so.
SP Baddi Rohit Malpani said additional force, including 30 lady constables, was being provided to enforce total curfew in Nalagarh and its 22 gram panchayats as well as the Jharmajri area in Barotiwala.
