In a significant move toward digitisation, the Municipal Corporation (MC), Dharamsala, is all set to roll out its Digital Mission within a month, bringing all civic services under a single online platform.

Once operational, citizens will no longer need to visit MC offices for basic services, drastically reducing paperwork and delays. The initiative is expected to streamline internal processes and make governance more transparent and citizen-friendly.

To prepare for this digital transition, a one-day training workshop was recently held at the NIC Hall in the DC office. The session familiarised MC officials and staff with key aspects of e-office operations, online grievance redressal and digital service delivery models.

MC Commissioner Zafar Iqbal said the Digital Mission would ensure that no file remains pending for long. “All applications and complaints will be trackable online. Citizens will be able to submit building plans, pay taxes and monitor complaint status from their smartphones or computers,” he said.

He emphasised that the system will address persistent issues like misplaced files and unresolved grievances through real-time digital recordkeeping and prompt official response.

The e-office framework will also cover internal functions including staff attendance, payroll, and file movement—enabling more efficient monitoring and faster task completion. “Our focus is on providing time-bound services and improving citizen satisfaction,” added Iqbal.

Mayor Neenu Sharma echoed these sentiments, stating that the digital transformation would improve administrative efficiency and save time for the public. She added that once fully functional, the digital system will ensure a more responsive, transparent and accountable Municipal Corporation.
