THE pandemic has wreaked havoc all around but people coming to the medical college in Hamirpur have made a mockery of safety guidelines related to social distancing and the use of masks. Hundreds of people gather at the gate of the hospital and there is no arrangement to regulate the crowd. The administration should keep an eye at the OPDs to enforce social distancing norms to check the spread of the virus — OP Gupta, Hamirpur

Unauthorised parking along highways

ON the Parwanoo-Solan stretch of the National Highway-5, innumerable trucks are parked, particularly near dhabas, squeezing the functional road to a width that can accommodate just one car at a time. Other places which see such haphazard parking are in Tipra village (falling in Haryana) near the foot bridge, dhabas near Jabli, Amrit Dhaba, Sanvara, etc. Which authority is supposed to monitor and regulate it? The traffic police, the NHAI or the HP Government? — Dr Manjit S Bal, Kumarhatti
