Not keen on new car but can’t use old vehicle in Delhi: Himachal Governor

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla yesterday said that he was not keen to have a new vehicle for his use but it was due to the enforcement of new rules in New Delhi that his old vehicle could not be used in the national capital.
“When we go to New Delhi, we have to take another vehicle. I have not sought information about how old is the vehicle I am using at present but the actual problem is that this vehicle cannot be used in New Delhi,” he said in an informal interaction with mediapersons here.

“When the Parliamentary Affairs Minister had clarified that as per the protocol, the Governor’s vehicle has to be replaced after five years, he should have mentioned the problem being faced in plying the old vehicle in New Delhi,” said a visibly peeved Shukla.
Shukla’s remarks come in light of the Cabinet giving nod to purchasing a Mercedes Benz car for Rs 92 lakh for his use on July 3.
