Kritika Thakur from Mamooh Gurchal in Nurpur has been selected for a PhD and research programme at Villanova University, Pennsylvania, United States of America.

She is set to research material science during her PhD programme. Thakur’s gram panchayat honoured her for her achievement.

She completed her middle school education from the Chamba government school and secondary education from Government Senior Secondary School, Sadwan (Nurpur). She graduated from the Dharamsala government college and completed her post-graduation in MSc (physics) from Government College, Ghumarwin (Bilaspur). — OC

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
