Nurpur lad gets int’l kurash coach licence

Vansh (19), a BA student of Government Arya College, Nurpur, has brought laurels to Kangra district by achieving his life’s goal of becoming an international kurash coach. Kurash is a national wrestling game of Uzbekistan. It was included in the Asian Games in 2018 for the first time. Hailing from Dev-Bharari village, Nurpur, he had initially participated in a three-month online training programme organised by the state Physical Education and Sports University in the Republic of Uzbekistan. He cleared the entrance examination and enrolled in the training programme of the university.

He visited Uzbekistan for the offline training and written test last month. After passing the written test, he qualified for final training as a kurash coach in Uzbekistan. He was granted licence for an international coach by the International Kurash Institute (IKA), Uzbekistan, last week. Vansh was honoured by Principal Anil Kumar on the college campus on Friday.
