He had lost his life in an avalanche that struck Mana village near Badrinath in Uttarakhand yesterday. The avalanche buried him under snow. Despite efforts by the Army to conduct a search and rescue operation he could not be saved.
Ram Gopal, Mahinder Pal’s younger brother, said Mahinder had been working as a motor mechanic for a private construction company in Mana village, located near the Line of Actual Control with China, for the past 10 months. The deceased is survived by his wife, daughter (8) and son (3). Ram Gopal said the news of his brother’s death had been given to him by one of Mahinder’s friends.
Nurpur SDM Gursimar Singh told The Tribune that upon receiving this information, he had established communication with the district authorities of Chamoli. He said the body would arrive in the native village of the deceased on Tuesday noon.
