Nurpur, December 29

The police yesterday arrested Kuldeep Kumar (50) of Metta village under the Gangath police chowki in Nurpur on the charge of raping a resident of the same village.

After preliminary investigation, the police produced the accused in court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days. As per police information, the accused stopped the woman, mother of four children, on Friday morning when she was going to the fields.

He allegedly raped her and fled from the spot after threatening her not to disclose the incident to anyone. The Nurpur police registered a case and arrested the accused. The medical examination of the victim was conducted at the civil hospital in Nurpur. According to the police, the accused and victim were relatives.
