Nurpur police nab cyber criminal from Bihar

The accused, identified as Ajit Kumar — son of Kanta Paswan, of Khetalpura village, Nalanda district, Bihar — was nabbed on an FIR registered against unidentified cyber criminals under Section 318(4) of the BNNS on April 8.
The accused had allegedly duped Kuldeep Raj Gupta, a resident of nearby Jassur town, of Rs 3,56,799. The accused had reportedly forwarded a phishing link to the complainant, who incidentally opened it, allowing the accused to hack into his mobile phone. Kumar said the accused made multiple transfers.
Nurpur DSP Vishal Verma said the police, while investigating the crime, was able to identify the accused. He said they had also succeeded in getting information about the various bank accounts in which the accused had transferred the money. The accused was produced in the court on Tuesday and remanded for further investigation.
The police have urged the residents not to open any unknown mobile link and share any bank details, including the OTP, with any unknown person to avoid such a mishap.
