No ration through bio-metric system

n The government has decided to stop distribution of ration from its fair price shops under the Public Distribution System through biometric transaction with immediate effect

n In view of coronavirus threat, ration card holders can get their monthly entitlement of foodgrains from the fair price shops through the QR code of the ration card numbers. The decision has been taken by the Civil Supplies Corporation to suspend distribution of ration through biometric till March 31.

n However, all card holders have been asked to keep the record of ration distributed manually as was being done prior to the installation of machines.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
