He added that the BJP was the only party where a person from an ordinary family could dream to become Prime Minister or the national party president.
Jitendra, while addressing mediapersons here, said that unlike the Congress and other parties, which had a feudal mindset, there was complete democracy in the BJP. “In most of the other parties, you have a life-time president and there is succession. But in the BJP, there is complete democracy and Bindal’s name was finalised based on the sentiments of all state party leaders and workers,” he added.
He dismissed charge that there was no democracy in the BJP as the party high command had finalised Bindal’s name and no other leader had filed nomination papers.
Jitendra said, “People are used to the feudal mindset of the Congress, where only one family rules, and think that the BJP is also the same. “Narendra Modi ji, JP Nadda ji, Anurag Thakur or I had not proposed Bindal’s name but party workers did it. This reflects internal democracy in the BJP,” he added.
“The consensus on one name reflects unanimity and a strong ideology. There may be individual differences but there is a common cord of ideology,” the Union Minister said. “Unlike the Congress where everyone knows that the name of the party president will be from one family, in the BJP, nobody knows till the last minute who will be chosen for this responsibility,” he added.
He said that Bindal had been given the responsibility of party president on the basis of the feelings of the grass-roots level party workers.
Jai Ram Thakur and Anurag Thakur said that Bindal was admired by everyone for his dedication and committed working style. His name was finalised on the basis of his experience and commitment, they added.
They alleged that Congress leaders, when out of power, knock at the doors of other parties, while BJP workers struggle for decades before they were given any responsibility.
