A group of ‘devloos’ (followers of local deities) had confronted the Tehsildar over what they claimed “impure” arrangement at temporary camps set up for deities. Eyewitnesses said tensions escalated after Yadav allegedly entered a deity’s camp temple wearing shoes. A heated exchange followed, during which the Tehsildar was “manhandled” by a crowd. The ‘devloos’ then escorted him to the site to voice their concerns, after which Yadav is said to have apologised for the unintended offence.

An FIR was filed on October 3, naming Rahul and others as accused.
