One killed, one hurt in mishap

One person was killed, and another sustained injuries after their car (HP 73A 7644) plunged into the Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project site in Shimla district, the police said. The deceased, Anil (28), son of Chokas Ram, was a resident of Sopa village in Bharmour tehsil in Chamba district. The injured, Sanjay Kumar (25), son of Om Prakash, is from Parlog village in Karsog tehsil in Mandi district. The accident occurred around 11 pm on Saturday on the Luhri-Sunni road near Khaira when Anil, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle. Both sustained injuries. Locals noticed the accident and informed the police. A police team rushed to the spot, rescued the injured, and took them to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla. However, Anil succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His body was handed over to relatives after a postmortem at the IGMC. The police confirmed the incident and registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 125 (rash or negligent act endangering human life) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 at the Sunni Police Station.
