THEMC authorities have left a sewerage pipe open on the steps from the Ridge to Gainda Mull in the Mall area, leading to dirty water flowing on the steps. This is creating unhygienic conditions and causing inconvenience. Additionally, those using the steps can potentially fall and get injured badly due to the steps being slippery. The faulty pipeline should be repaired immediately.

Erratic power supply
The erratic power supply in the area has become a major source of troubles to the general public. In the current acute cold wave, the erratic power supply is only adding to the residents’ inconveniences. The elderly and the children — some of whom have examinations around the corner — are being affected by the lack of a continuous power supply.

No tarring of repaired road
The previously broken stretch of the road between New Shimla and Vikasnagar that was repaired has not been metalled. Earlier, half of the road had sunk. Although the road was repaired, but it has not been metalled. Gravel can be spotted lying about on the road, causing inconvenience to commuters. The authorities concerned should look into metalling the road at the earliest to avoid any potential mishaps. Ranjan Gupta, Shimla
