Over 200 children attend eye check-up camp

More than 200 children underwent detailed eye examinations at the first comprehensive eye screening camp conducted by the the Rotary Club at St Paul School, Palampur, today. Children found with refractive errors were properly guided and advised to take timely treatment. The eyes of the faculty and the staff of the school were also examined.

Earlier, the club announced the launch of its new community service initiative, ‘Gift of Sight’ project, dedicated to the loving memory of its chartered president late Dr Shiv Kumar. Under the noble project, two eye screening camps would be organised in two schools every month.

Ajay Sood and Raghav Sharma, president and general secretary of the club, told mediapersons that children identified with refractive errors during these camps would be provided with spectacles free of cost, ensuring that no child’s education or quality of life suffers due to poor vision. Dr Shiv Kumar’s family would bear the cost of all spectacles.

The Rotary Club expressed gratitude to Virendra Pal Singh for his support in ensuring the smooth execution of the camp. Appreciation was also extended to all Rotarians, who actively participated in the camp.

The doctors and the staff of the Rotary Eye Hospital also paid tributes to Dr Shiv Kumar. As the charter president of the Rotary Eye Foundation, his selfless service, dedication to eye care and commitment to humanity remain deeply inspiring.
