Ahead of the Dehra Assembly bypoll, Returning Officer and SDM Shilpi Bekta today said Rs 2.18 lakh was seized from a vehicle by the static surveillance team at Kanol in Dehra.

She said a team of Naveen Kumar and ASI Rakesh Kumar made the seizure at Kanol check post. The SDM said the vehicle driver did not have valid documents pertaining to the cash and further investigation was on.

The Returning Officer said in view of the byelection, various surveillance teams were regularly checking vehicles by setting up check posts.

She said regular patrolling was also being done in all the important areas.

As per the SDM, two sector magistrates, 10 sector officers, one assistant expenditure observer, one accounting team, six flying squad teams, six static surveillance teams, two video surveillance teams and one video viewing team had been deployed for the byelection in Dehra.
