Palampur native Dr Sourabh Soni, a molecular biologist, has been researching the replication of the influenza-A virus as a senior research associate at the Ohio State University, Columbus, USA. Soni’s research focuses on the role of a host cellular protein in the viral replication, offering a potential target for antivirals with reduced resistance susceptibility.

He pursued his PhD in biological science from CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at the Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. With more than 11 years of research experience, Soni has published many scientific articles and mentored 20 researchers. He was selected to present his research at the American Thoracic Society International Conference in Washington, DC.
