Education Minister Rohit Thakur inaugurated a Panchayat Bhawan at Devgarh in Kotkhai subdivision of Shimla district today. The building built at a cost of Rs 53 lakh would serve as a hub of local administrative functions and enhance the efficiency of panchayat work to the benefit of people.

Rohit also inspected the ongoing construction of a building of Government Senior Secondary School at Devgarh at a cost of Rs 3.17 crore. He expressed hope that it would benefit the local community and improve public service delivery.

The minister announced Rs 1.5 lakh for the purchase of furniture for the panchayat building. He highlighted the progress made in the region despite financial and political challenges over the past three years. “Infrastructure has been strengthened and significant strides have been made in sectors like education and health. The work on various projects is underway,” he added.

Rohit said the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kotkhai had been transformed into a model health institution, where specialist doctors of medicine, gynaecology, ophthalmology and paediatric care were available.
