Pangi villages to be linked by road: Minister

Pangi (Chamba), August 6
The remaining villages of the mountainous Pangi tribal valley in the district would be linked by road facility by December next, said Agriculture and Tribal Development Minister Dr Ram Lal Markanda during his recent visit to the valley.
The minister said the Public Works Department (PWD) was working on an action plan to connect these remaining villages.
Markanda said during the current financial year, an amount of Rs 60 crore would be spent on various development works under the tribal sub-plan.
Drinking water facilities would be provided in Mindhal, Findru and Mahaliyat villages.
He said that effective steps were being taken to provide school building facilities to the primary schools which needed buildings especially in the tribal valley.
Markanda impressed upon the officials of the horticulture department to work with promptness for horticulture development in the valley so that people of the valley could also get involved with the horticulture business.
The minister also performed bhoomi poojan of Kufa link road to be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.23 crore and Changli Punto link road to be constructed with an amount of Rs 1.5 crore.
Bharmour MLA Jia Lal Kapoor also accompanied the minister during his tour to Pangi.
