Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania has urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to reconsider the state government’s decision mandating only e-rickshaws in McLeodganj and adjoining areas and allow the return of petrol-run autos instead.

Pathania, accompanied by a delegation from the Auto Operators’ Union, McLeodganj, met the CM on Wednesday evening and highlighted the serious challenges faced by local drivers and commuters.

He informed the CM that while the government’s move to introduce e-rickshaws aimed at promoting eco-friendly transport, it had proven impractical in hilly terrains. “e-rickshaws fail to climb the steep inclines of Dharamkot, Naddi and other regions.
