Residents of Una district, receiving treatment from the PGI, Chandigarh, were yesterday provided telemedicine facilities at the Jal Shakti Rest House in Una city where two doctors from the institute are manning the centre, having real-time connectivity with specialist doctors.
More than 100 patients turned up on the first day, but only 50 could be provided services. Seeing the rush, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar said from Wednesday, patients would have to first get themselves registered on mobile number 7876491951 to seek an appointment.
He said this was being done to ensure social distancing norms. He said in the coming days, if the number of patients increased, patients would be catered to turn-wise from the five subdivisions of the district.
Meanwhile, the DC has ordered that mobile post offices will be functional in panchayats on rotation so that people could get the facility of savings and deposits, adding that people with bank accounts could also get this facility at mobile post offices during the curfew relaxation period from 7 to 10 am on each working day.
The DC said mobile post offices will provide services at the fair price shop concerned in the village where beneficiaries of social security pensions can also approach them for services. He said the mobile post office would function for 45 minutes at a location before moving to the adjacent panchayat, covering three panchayats during the three-hour curfew relaxation period.
On Wednesday, in the Amb block, the mobile post office will provide services at Lohara from 7 am to 7.45 am, at Mawa Tikka Lohara from 8 to 8.45 am and at Behar Lohara from 9 to 9.45 am. In the Una block, these services will be provided at Takka, Kuriala and Jhambar, while in Bangana block, Arloo, Charada and Jassana panchayats will be covered. In the Gagret block, mobile post office services will be provided at Baeri Saloh, Joh and Dangoh villages.
