Public participation is the most important for the success of the ‘war against drugs’ programme initiated by the Police Department in the district.

This was stated by Bhagat Singh Thakur, Superintendent of Police (SP), while addressing students at a government senior school in Nadaun subdivision near here today. He said that the drug menace had trapped the youth and it would not only spoil their career but destroy peace and harmony in the society. Thakur urged the students and the other participants to download the police mobile application 112 and the drug free Himachal app.

The SP also highlighted the importance of discipline in life and following law-abiding practices. Notably the SP had started a programme “war against drugs” in the district around two months ago to check drug trafficking and cracked a number of drug rackets since then. The police apprehended one to two persons daily, who were involved in drug trafficking. Drugs including charas, opium and chitta, were confiscated.
